The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan has identified three main tourist routes to Gabala, that is among the destinations attracting the most tourists in the region. These routes are “Alexander Dumas in the Caucasus”, “Historic Silk Road” and “Baku-Balakan Tourism Route”. These routes can be ordered from the Gabala Tourist Information Center. Historical Gabala region is included in a general program of the travel route to the areas covered by the Silk Road as it is located on the route of the Great Silk Road .

The route is named after the famous French writer Alexander Dumas and deals with the areas he crossed during his visit to the Caucasus. The tour starts from Baku, the sights of Shamakhi, Ismayilli (Lahij) districts are visited and then the route reaches Gabala. Gabala Historical Ethnography Museum, Chukhur Gabala and Nic villages are visited in Gabala. Later, the route is completed with acquaintance with Sheki after getting acquainted with the culture and culinary of the Udin community in Nij
